ResCare is always looking for donations of yarn, fabric, sewing supplies (for quilts), plastic bags for homeless mats. For the Homeless Count on Wednesday, January 27th, donations of back-packs, duct tape, large garbage bags, blankets, and sleeping bags are still needed. Please donate gently-used items. Volunteers are needed to prep backpacks, print flyers and name badges prior to the count. Update from Molly @ YWCA
The Burmese community is making scarves and hats (including all those being made for the Homeless Taskforce’s homeless count January 27th). They still need yarn donations. If you can donate yarn, drop it off on the 3rd floor of Rudisill Plaza. Update from Lisa Smith for ARBOR
This update comes from a representative of the YWCA Homeless Shelter for domestic violence victims. The YWCA has a Steps to Success program.
The Homeless Task Force count in Fort Wayne will be January 27, 2010 (Wednesday).
They are asking for donations of hats, scarves, garbage bags, duct tape, and backpacks for unsheltered homeless. The task force is also asking for volunteers to help with the count.
Hunger and Homelessness Week, slated for before Thanksgiving, will hopefully be tied together with the January homeless count, and may be held at lunch time at 201 W. Rudisill. Show up to lend weight to the importance of these events. More information will coming via email.
Unto Others provides food, clothing; mentors clients towards self-sufficiency . They give out pallets of non-perishable/non-food items to other churches and agencies.
